Auto-updating

Install once. From then on, Milo quietly fetches each new release in the background and applies it the next time you restart the app — you'll see a small “Update ready” note when one is waiting. Nothing to download from this page ever again.

First-install notes (SmartScreen & the portable build)

Run Milo Setup.exe.
If SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC” → click More info → Run anyway. This only happens on the very first install — updates apply silently.
Milo installs and opens; allow microphone access when asked.

The portable .exe runs without installing — handy for a quick test — but it cannot auto-update. For day-to-day use, choose the installer.

Not sure which? Apple menu → About This Mac: “Apple M1/M2/M3/M4” means Apple Silicon; “Intel” means Intel.

Why Mac is different right now. macOS only allows apps to update themselves when they carry an Apple Developer ID signature, and our Apple certificates are still being issued. Until they land, two things follow: macOS shows an “unidentified developer” notice on first open (cleared in one step below), and each new version means coming back to this page and reinstalling — the app will not update itself. The moment our certificates arrive, Macs get the same install-once, update-itself behaviour as Windows, and this notice disappears.

Installing on a Mac (one extra step)

Open the .dmg and drag Milo into Applications.
Paste this into Terminal (⌘-Space → type “Terminal”) and press Enter — it clears the unidentified-developer block:

xattr -cr /Applications/Milo.app && open /Applications/Milo.app

Milo opens — allow microphone access when asked.

Prefer not to use Terminal? Double-click Milo once, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.

Updating later: download the new .dmg from this page and drag Milo to Applications again, replacing the old copy. Your sign-in and settings are kept.
